Don’t look now but China is fast creeping up the travel industry ladder! Apparently, the World Tourism Rankings now have China ranked a very promising number 4 in international tourist arrivals in 2009, with over 50.9 million visitors. Well, it’s been 2 years since that report and we all can very well surmise that the numbers have grown, are constantly growing and will very well continue to grow!
Tourism can be one of the biggest factors as to why and how a country strives. In the case of China, these tourist arrivals also signal many other things. Apart from the fact that it can very well be the much-needed boost in the arm for China’s travel industry, it also shows the level of confidence among businessmen, investors and leisure goers. In terms of the online world, it shows that it is but high time to get into any (or all!) of these activities: travel blog, travel booking engine, tourism review type of website or travel package/travel tour sites. Just take the cue from Baidu.com and Qunar.com. The latter recently received a staggering USD 306 Million strategic investment from the former. The said amount represents the biggest strategic investment in online travel market in China and the biggest one for both entities. With that much money involved, you know that there’s something really lucrative in the China travel industry these days.
Travelzen (http://hk.travelzen.com) and C-Trip (http://english.ctrip.com/) are also two of the websites that tourists these days visit to check out the latest deals on trips to China. From Shanghai vacation packages to Beijing tours, these travel websites are now busy catering to the needs of interested tourists around the world.
So the question now is --- when will YOU join the bandwagon?
