Everywhere you look, you’ll find the tastemakers and trendsetters of Hong Kong’s culinary scene raving about the sights sounds and, yes, tastes of Zafran. Zafran is a new tapas offering from the Aqua restaurant group, an innovative contemporary spin on what in Spain is called “tapas y musica”. Our basement site, nestled in a small alley away from the hustle and rush of Wyndham Street and just above Lan Kwai Fong, has an informal yet sophisticated feel with bare brick walls, leather chesterfields, and uniquely atmospheric lighting.
What’s truly important, of course, is the food. Hungry Hong Kong raves that our “tapas are perfectly prepared in traditional Spanish style, while still incorporating unique touches from the talented chef.” Everybody will find their own favorites as they explore our menu on repeated visits. Hungry Hong Kong says “We couldn't get enough of the homemade chorizo and their creamy Iberico ham croquettes.”
Our tapas can enjoyed in the main dining area with high ceilings, large windows, exposed brick walls and wooden panelling, or in our relaxed and discreet ‘tapas lounge,’ which features a bar positioned in front of an open kitchen, where you can sit comfortably and make friends with our talented chefs! We also offer a room length cocktail bar, beautifully lit with carefully selected antique-style bulbs and perfect for after-work or late night cocktails listening to the beats of our expert DJs.
The tapas at Zafran’s are refined, delicate flavor combinations unlike anything you’ve tried before. Our menu includes classic selections such as bravas potatoes, Gambas ajillo (garlic chilli prawns) as well as contemporary signature tapas including Luxury Toast with Wild Mushroom, Langoustine carpaccio, Cod with Txangurro and Cuttle Fish Tagliatelle, Lamb Rack with Garlic Puree and Baby Onions, and 24 hour boneless oxtail. In addition to tapas we also feature succulent and satisfy mains. Hungry Hong Kong loved our “juicy, tender secreto Iberico pork and suckling pig with the crispiest melt in your mouth skin.”
When you visit, remember to save room for desserts like our sea salt and olive oil chocolate mousse. Plus, don’t forget to take Hungry Hong Kong’s advice and enjoy a “refreshing house sangria” with your meal, or else try one of our many delicious cocktails or “perfectly paired” wines.
