On August 15, 2014 Simpson Marine held its “30th Anniversary Gala Dinner; Celebrating Yachting Freedom since 1984” at the Shenzhen Ritz-Carlton. Founder Mike Simpson, and his crew in Shenzhen invited more than 180 guests, including many yacht owners from the region, shipyard representatives, Marina Club partners, and local media to share the joy in celebrating 30 years of establishment in Asia.
Guests enjoyed watching a video that reviewed the company’s three decades of development, from the first yachts Mike Simpson sold in his small Hong Kong office, to today’s growth across seven countries to become Asia's largest yacht dealer.
Founder Mike Simpson then reviewed the great changes in China's yacht industry, "20 years ago at China's first boat show, someone asked me, ‘What is a yacht?’ And now, so many have begun to enjoy this new yachtinglifestyle."
The dinner included many yacht owners and others with key relationships to Simpson Marine plus yacht club leaders, business partners, and representatives from the media. Like Mike Simpson and his company they are all passionate about life on the water. Together with Simpson Marine all were there to promote the development of the marine lifestyle in China. "You are the first group of people in China to really experience the yachting lifestyle, and to understand the fun of sailing with your families." Mike also thanked the guests for giving their trust and support to Simpson Marine over the years. He also gave recognition to all clubs and facilities that support our industry, "This development has been made possible by the rapid growth of marinas all over China…. and all the yacht clubs and marinas that have made us feel at home; and to the China Cup. They are all doing so much to help build interest in our lifestyle.”
To open the banquet guests enjoyed food and wine accompanied by wonderful live jazz, and a jewelry show from Aster Ma. The entertainment set an enthusiastic atmosphere for the venue. The prizes for the Lucky Draw included rooms in the Ritz-Carlton, an exquisite luxury yacht model, and other gifts.
After the meal the entire Simpson Marine team came forward to cut the 30th anniversary cake, which was topped with a confectionary model of a sailboat. Everyone joined in to congratulate Mike and his team on their 30 years of accomplishments here in Asia.
