Quick and handy tips for writing a blog

So you want to start a blog, eh? Want to join this bandwagon everyone else calls blogging? Perhaps you got enticed because of the many perks that a blogger receives or perhaps you just want to share your thoughts online to a wider audience. Or perhaps you want to further enhance your portfolio by adding “blogger” to your resume. Whatever your reason is for starting to write a blog, just remember that there are also certain rules and tips that you may follow.

Here are just a few quick and handy tips for writing a blog:

1. Write less and write well. Yes, there is a difference between writing on paper and writing a blog. People usually just scan through when they “read” online journals. You may want to just limit your blog content to about 250 words. That word count is more than enough. Also, write well. Check your grammar and spelling. Nobody really wants to read a poorly written blog entry. Chances are, your readers will not come back and check your blog again.

2. Sprinkle relevant keywords. Keywords can help attract the visitors - which, of course, you need for your blog. Unless you want no one to come across your blog, of course. But if you’re one of those bloggers who wouldn’t mind earning a little online income on the side, then you need keywords.

3. Write snappy headlines. Don’t bore your readers with long and winding headlines. The shorter, the snappier, the better. Make it as concise as possible and don’t forget to use at least one or two keywords. This will definitely assure you of new or recurring blog readers.
