Asian Youth Orchestra audition results will be announced before 31 March. Applicants will receive notification by email no later than 10 April.
Auditions have ended and we are busy selecting the talented, hardworking individuals who will be awarded the chance of a lifetime! A full scholarship program study under the magical batons of AYO Founder Richard Pontzious and the sensational Joseph Bastian, along with an exceptional artist-faculty of principals hailing from the Baltimore, Boston, Hong Kong and Minnesota orchestras, as well as, the Bergamo Festival Orchestra (Italy), Milan's La Scala Opera, La Fenice Teatro Venice, Teatro Carlo Felice Genova, Brussels’ Monnaie Opera, the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the Orchestra Della Radio Svizzera Italiana, and the Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
The 2019 AYO Tour will take our selected musicians to 11 Asian cities, including Hong Kong, Shanghai, Nanjing, Tianjin, Beijing, Taipei, Chiayi City, Kumamoto, Fukuoka, Tokyo, and for the first time over 10 years, Seoul, Korea.
Joining the 2019 AYO tour is awards winning violinist Mone Hattori and Hong Kong pianist Rachel Cheung. Mone Hattori is sure to dazzle audiences with her performance of the Bruch Violin Concerto #1 in G minor. We are also fortunate to have the talented Rachel Cheung step in for Anna Tsybuleva, who was scheduled to return to be part of AYO 2019 after a hugely successful tour with AYO last year. Rachel will be playing Ravel piano concerto in G under conductor Joseph Bastian.
The Asian Youth Orchestra Summer Festival will be held in Hong Kong from 20 July to 8 August 2019. The Asia Tour Performance Schedule will immediately follow from 9 August to 1 September 2019.
