Dennis Philipse Speaks at PROUD Experiences 2018

We were proud to see Dennis Philipse, Co-Chair of the Hong Kong Bid Team that won the rights to host the 2022 Gay Games in Hong Kong, invited to speak at the PROUD Experiences 2018 Event, 6-8th June, hosted at the Saatchi Gallery in London. Dennis was part of an insightful Power Masterclass all about inclusion, targeting LGBT+ consumers, and tourism in Asia. During the international three-day event, Dennis was able to share about his experiences and strategy that resulted in being able to host Gay Games 11 Hong Kong 2022. Making Hong Kong the first Asian city to host the Gay Games since its inception in 1982!

This is an incredible feat! The Gay Games are only hosted every four years, and is the world’s largest sporting and cultural event led by LGBT+ athletes, artists, and musicians, and open to all who wish to participate– regardless of ability, age, sexual orientation, race, gender, nationality, political or religious beliefs, ethnic origins, or HIV status. The Gay Games are not only a sporting event, where competitors are able to compete in approximately 36 different sporting events over a nine-day period, it also includes arts and local cultural events, where travellers from across the globe will be able to experience the uniqueness of Hong Kong and Asia– including calligraphy, lion dancing, choral arrangements, and martial arts. Tower Running, Trail Running and Dragon Boating will also be featured for the first time in Gay Games history!

Simply put, Gay Games 11 Hong Kong 2022 is all about about showcasing all of the unique local culture the diverse population of Hong Kong has to offer, alongside a vast array of sporting events, to create an abstract and unique event the world will experience for the first time. Hosting the Gay Games in Hong Kong is expected to attract over 15,000 participants and bring in a HK$1billion (€108 million) economic boost.
